The Calvary Chapel Scandinavia conference will celebrate its 20th anniversary this summer as it continues to bring people together from across the Nordic region who share a passion for seeing Jesus and the Scriptures spread to as many people as possible in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. Here are some important pieces of information about this year's conference - and how to sign up:

THE VENUE
For the third year in a row, the venue is a campsite called Hjälmargården not far from the Swedish town of Vingåker.

The conference site is located by a lake and offers plenty of outdoor space for activities, incl. canoeing, ball games, miniature golf, playgrounds for kids, etc.

THE TEACHING
A line-up of invited guest pastors and local speakers will teach through the Book of Nehemiah. The conference will also offer specific workshops on topics that are highly relevant to our daily lives as Christians. All teaching will be in English.

THE TEACHERS
This year we welcome four guest speakers to teach alongside local ministry leaders from Scandinavia. These guest speakers are pastors Miles DeBenedictis (Cross Connection Church in California, USA), Mark Walsh (CC New Zealand), Stan Marinussen (CC Cross Culture in the Netherlands) and Darrel Wilmoth (Front Range Calvary Chapel in Colorado, USA).

THE TIMING
Please note that the "Arrival and registration" takes place on Wednesday (July 25th) between 4pm and 7pm. The first worship and teaching session starts at 7:30pm.

IMPORTANT: Please note that due to people's differing arrival times, the Wednesday evening dinner is NOT included in the attendance prices listed below. Nor will there be lunch served on Sunday after the last morning session.

THE PRICE
At this summer's conference, your attendance price will depend on what type of accommodation you choose. You can find more information about available accommodation options by clicking the sign up link below, but the overall price structure is as follows:

All children aged 0 to 12 (both ages included) attend free of charge, regardless of your choice of accommodation.

The following prices apply to all attendees aged 13 or older, covering all cost for accommodation, access to all conference facilities, as well as breakfast, lunch, dinner and refreshments ("fika") throughout the conference (except Wednesday dinner and Sunday lunch):

Tent - 800 SEK pr adult
Bring your own tent or camper, we provide you with a camp spot and access to toilets and showers)

Bed in dorm room - 1100 SEK pr person
Children aged 0 to 12 cannot be signed up for dorm rooms. Rooms are gender divided and contain two bunk beds, so you will be bunking with up to three other people. Limited living space, but a roof over your head, and a bed to sleep in. Access to toilets and showers, which are located in a separate building.

Private room without bathroom - 1500 SEK pr adult
Available for single occupants, married couples, friends (of same gender) who wish to share a room, single parents with their kid(s), or similar. Room size varies depending on how many people you are. Toilets and showers are in a separate building.

Private room with bathroom - 1800 SEK pr adult
Available for two or more occupants, not for single occupants. These rooms usually have two bunk beds and its own private bathroom. These rooms come with access to a shared kitchen with a fridge and microwave. Also, suitably for families with up to 2 children.

Family cabin - 2000 SEK pr adult
Available for families of four or more. These are small cabins with 2-4 bunk beds (holds a total of 4-8 people) and a little more floor space for the kids to play on. Most of them come with a kitchenette including a fridge and microwave. At the outset, these cabins are available only to families with two or more children. Should any cabins still be available to book at the time of the conference, these will be offered to smaller families (based on date of registration).

The Calvary Scandinavia women's retreat is back!

Any and all women connected to the Bible-teaching ministries here in Scandinavia are welcome to join us as we revive the Calvary Scandinavia women's retreat on May 4th-6th 2018.

Guest speakers are Inga-Lill Guzik and Kathy Morales, who will teach through Ephesians 3. The retreat will take place at the venue STF Hjo Hostel in the town of Hjo, Sweden from Friday May 4th to Sunday May 6th.

The attendance price is 1000 SEK pr. person, which includes food and lodging for the weekend.

"We are looking forward to a blessed time of fellowship and Bible teaching with a bunch of likeminded ladies. Passion for Christ revitalized at Scandinavian conference

The 19th annual Calvary Chapel Scandinavia conference took place this past week at a venue in central Sweden as 120+ people from CC-related ministries in Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway got together to strengthen and refresh each other through prayer, worship, Bible studies and like-minded fellowship, fun and ferver. 

Through a close look at the passion of Christ, the passion for Christ was revived in attendees from across the Nordic region as a tight-knit regional congregation studied through John 12-21 at the Calvary Chapel Scandinavia conference 2017.

For the second year running, the conference was held at the Swedish lakeside camp and conference venue Hjälmargaarden, located 2 hours southwest of Stockholm. Running from Wednesday to Sunday (July 26th-30th), the conference continued a series of studies from John’s Gospel as taught by guest pastors David Guzik, Mark Walsh and Darrel Wilmoth along with a few local speakers, having taken attendees through the first half of that gospel account at the previous year’s conference.

As with all previous Scandinavian conferences, God was at work both in and between the sanctuary sessions, every day of the conference included sermons, worship sessions, prayer meetings, mealtime fellowship, and the famous Swedish “fika” (coffee and/or refreshments). The atmosphere throughout the conference was one of friends reuniting for a short, intense and much-treasured window of time. 

“Many of us only meet once a year. But when we do, something special happens. God is present in a strong way and never fails to refill us with a real sense of His love, vision and protection. I think many of the people who keep coming back to these conference do so because these gatherings are essential to us carrying on in ministry on such spiritually hostile soil as the Scandinavian. We are re-charged in a special way by huddling with like-minded, on-mission peers in Christ. The friendships up here in the Nordic region are strong, and this conference always reflects that. It sends us back with heads high, hearts honed and hungry,” says Bob Pecoraro, pastor of Calvary Chapel Turku and one of the conference organizers.

Familiar pastors return to serve
The conference was organized by a group of voluntary local ministry leaders with on-the-ground support from missions’ teams from Front Range, Colorado and Leipzig, Germany - respectively led by pastors Darrel Wilmoth and Kurt Ibbotson.

It was the 19th consecutive annual Scandinavian conference, initially started back in the late 1990's by a small group of pastors with a heart for the region, including David Guzik, who this year returned as a guest speaker after a rare 3-year absence, along with his wife Inga-Lill.

The worship sessions at the conference this year were led by Mark Walsh from Calvary Chapel Bible Institute in New Zealand, who served at his sixth Scandinavian conference.

This year's conference also included two baby dedications, a series of topical workshops, and the fun CCS conference tradition of the Viking Games (see video here).

Sign up for the 2017 CC Scandinavia conference

The Calvary Chapel Scandinavia conference will return to its usual timing of late July but will remain at its new venue near the Swedish town of Vingåker in 2017. The dates are July 26th-30th, and attendees are encouraged to SIGN UP SOON before all bedrooms are booked.

After a three-year absence, pastor David Guzik is already confirmed as one of the guest speakers at this summer's Calvary Chapel Scandinavia conference, which is set to take place on July 26th to 30th (Wednesday to Sunday) near Vingåker, Sweden. He will be joined by other familiar faces behind the pulpit, as the Calvary Scandinavia family unites for its annual summer gathering.

THE VENUE
The 2017 venue is a campsite called Hjälmergården not far from the Swedish town of Vingåker and is located by a lake and offers bedroom cabins, dorm rooms as well as available outdoor space for tents and camping trailers.

New venue chosen for Scandinavian conference in 2016

There will be a change of both venue and timing for the 2016 Calvary Chapel Scandinavia conference, which will move from early August to mid-July and from Stockholm to a campsite near the Swedish town of Vingåker. New dates are July 13th-17th.

After 7 consecutive years with the Scandinavian conferences being held at a castle-turned-boarding-school in Ekebyholm an hour's drive north of Stockholm, the organizers of the annual event is announcing a change of venue that marks the end of an era.

Following further restrictions in the availability of the Ekebyholm facilities, a decision has been made to move the 2016 conference to the pre-arranged back-up location, a campsite called Hjälmergården two and a half hour's drive southwest of Stockholm.

"We have had a great time while having the conference at Ekebyholm, which is why we've stayed there for 7 years in a row. But now more and more parts of that venue are being reserved for permanent tennants, thereby limiting the size of the venue available to us to a degree that no longer matches our needs. We have therefore had to look for another place to stage the next conference," says Joel Wickström, pastor of Calvary Stockholm and a member of the team of organizers behind the annual Scandinavian conferences.

"We are thankful for all that God has done at our conferences while at Ekebyholm, but it's time to move on and thankfully we know that God's work is not limited to certain locations," he adds.

A great place for adults and kids
The 2016 venue of Hjälmergården (we wish all our non-Scandinavian participants good luck pronouncing that name) contains many of the same facilities that were available at Ekebyholm. The campsite is not far from the Swedish town of Vingåker and is located by a lake and offers bedroom cabins as well as available outdoor space for tents and camping trailers. The conference will take place on July 13th - 17th (Wednesday evening to Sunday noon, as usual).

"It remains to be seen whether this will be a new long-term venue for us, but for now our decision is just to have the 2016 conference there. We are always considering our options and looking for alternative venues near the international hubs of Stockholm and Copenhagen, so at the moment only God knows where we'll be in 2017 and onwards," says Joel Wickström.

"I think it will be a lot of fun for all of us to gather at a new location. I've visited Hjälmergården myself, and it is a really nice place with great space for both adults and kids. The sleeping accommodations, bathrooms and shower facilities are all of high standard, and the general surroundings should create a great environment for our conference," Joel adds.

Sign up process opens in January
At the moment the organizers expect to open the sign up process by early January, and as in recent years there will be advantages to signing up early.

The teachings from the Calvary Chapel Scandinavia Conference 2015 are now available online.

Over 11 sessions this year's invited guest speakers - pastors Alex Kruse from CC Siegen, Kyle Eckhart from CC Szegen, Mark Walsh of CC Bible Institute New Zealand, Kurt Ibbotson from CC Leipzig, and Darrel Wilmoth from Front Range Calvary - joined various local pastors from ministries in Scandinavia and taught through the second half of Paul's first epistle to the Corinthians.

Marvelous Miracles take home Viking Games trophy

No miracles needed as captain Darrel Wilmoth and the Marvelous Miracles claim the victory in Viking Games 8, leaving defending champion Bob Pecoraro and his team of Wisdom Warriors in third place.

As the battle cry rang out across the big sports field that formed the stage for this year's Viking Games at the Calvary Chapel Scandinavia conference near Stockholm, it was initially met with laughter. "No miracles needed!" screamed the seven members of the team named the Marvelous Miracles, with a confidence that initially did not seem to impress the five other rival teams in the minutes before the 8th edition of Viking Games kicked off.

But it would not be long before the competing teams, one by one, would begin to feel the superiority and determination of the Marvelous Miracles, led by team captain Darrel Wilmoth. As the six teams, all given names inspired by the second half of 1 Corinthians, competed in activities like beach volleyball, football, relays and various water balloon battles it quickly became clear that three teams stood out in the overall battle for the Viking Games trophy.

In the end captain Darrel Wilmoth and the Marvelous Miracles came out triumphant with more points than team Healer's Heat led by Simeon Fuchs, who finished second, and the defending champion Bob Pecoraro and his team Wisdom Warriors. In spite of winning the final captain's showdown contest, captain Bob could not prevent overall defeat. The Marvelous Miracles took home the trophy as Darrel Wilmoth collected his first ever Viking Games championship as captain.

"We certainly lived up to our team name more than our team battle cry, that's for sure. It was a really tough competition this year, so it may have been a miracle that we won the whole thing. But it was very exciting to hear our team name being called out when the winners were announced. It was fun. Viking Games is always fun," says Darrel Wilmoth, who - when he's not unleashing his inner viking - is the pastor of Calvary Front Range in Colorado, USA.

Trophy travels to Colorado
Viking Games 8 had another historic touch to it as it featured the first ever all-women's team, the Veils of Victory. In spite of putting up a valiant fight, the Veils of Victory came up just short in several competitions - and had the last inches and a little bit of luck been on their side their overall points tally would have been much higher.

In the end the trophy will now spend a year in Colorado with captain Darrel Wilmoth, who will return next year to defend the title.

113 points - Wisdom Warriors
85 points - Tongues of Thunder
40 points - Invincible Interpreters
40 points - Veils of Victory

The Viking Games is an annual tradition at the Calvary Chapel Scandinavia conferences, which started in 2008 and has since been staged each year. It's a fun way for conference participants to take a break from all the sitting down at teaching sessions and get to know new people (or new sides of familiar people) through competitive comradery.
